Dental For Kids

Centerlink covers up to $1,052 over 2 calendar years for basic dental services under CDBS. The cap amount is indexed yearly on 1 January. The increase in cap amount will only apply to a child or teenager who received their first eligible service in that calendar year. The services we'll cover include any of these:

  • check-ups
  • X-rays
  • cleaning
  • fissure sealing
  • fillings
  • root canals
  • extractions.

There are some restrictions for basic dental services. You should check with your dentist if there are any item or time restrictions before starting your service.

Who can get it?

Check if your child is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).

You don’t need to apply or register for CDBS. If your child is eligible Centerlink will send you a letter.

Your child can get CDBS when all of the following applies:

  • they're eligible for Medicare.
  • they're between 0 and 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year.
  • you or they get an eligible payment at least once that calendar year.

You can be either the child’s:

  • parent or guardian
  • approved care organisation.
